Temptations! They are everywhere and especially in the form of food! I have been guilty of shopping while hungry and buying food I usually never crave. It is hard to walk by the bakery, smell the aromas of homemade bread, donuts, or other delectables. I literally can hear the yummies calling to me to buy them! How can I resist? I have also been drawn to them when not hungry. Granted, there are ways to change these cravings but how do I resist when caught up in the tidal wave of desire?
Try making a fist and clenching tightly as you walk by the bakery section of the food store, the potato chips, the ice cream puffs. Clenching muscles increases willpower. "Health conscious people who tightened a muscle while selecting food from a snack bar were more likely to pass up decadent treats and opt for good-for-you fruit." Aparna Labroo, PhD at the University of Chicago.
Try it and see if it works for you. I know I will!
