It s in the Air!

My favorite season is just around the corner. Spring. We are beginning to feel the warmer temperatures, comfortable breezes and I hear the birds chirping. I went to the Farmer's Market today and the aromas of the fresh vegetables, breads and flowers all mingled to create a sense of peace. It is so easy to rush rush rush in NYC and not take the time to enjoy the seasons.

As I walked home I chose to take a route that meandered through the Brownstones. It is more quiet there and I was able to slow my pace, marvel at the brickwork, enjoy the wind (not breeze) whipping at my hair and face and chat with a man out walking his dog. I could have mindlessly done this route planning my next two hours but found such a sense of well being and "all is well" by slowing down and savoring the moment.

We are always being told to be in the "present," the "now," but how many actually do it? Your assignment this week is to go out and take 30 minutes to see, feel, hear and maybe taste the area around you. What have you been missing? Then try to do this several times a day and learn the art of appreciation for where we are in this moment.

And my all out thoughts and prayers be extended to those in Japan and the devastation they are dealing with now.
